It is also time to start purchasing your alcohol supplies and deciding which snacks you are going to survive on all week. Bloodstock is calling and we are ready to answer. So let’s have number eight in our list….
8. Cryptopsy – Sophie Stage – Thursday Headliner!!!

Exquisite death metal is all about the drumming. Tight, taut and precise, it is what makes the sound. One of the greatest death metal drummers out there is Flo Mounier. He has led Canadian Tech death pioneers Cryptopsy since the early nineties and has been the constant in their ever changing lineup. His drumming is sublime and has set the template for the rhythmic structure of death metal. Simultaneously complex and austere, he manages to weave together a cosmic force that keeps their sound galloping ahead.

Often overlooked when we talk about pivotal Death Metal acts, Cryptopsy are currently enjoying a bit of a renaissance. The new wave of tech metal acts have begun to cite them as a central influence and they have already been in this country earlier in the year celebrating thirty years of the pivotal “None so Vile”. Whilst they are no strangers to this country this is the first time we have seen them in an outdoor festival setting. Believe us, this will be brutal.
