Bloodstock Festival Countdown : 24 Bands Not To Miss

We are in the TOP 10! The Ten bands that you need to see at Bloodstock which means that it is TEN days (count them) until the stages open up. Yes we know some of you mad buggers will be there from Wednesday but we are counting from the moment that the bands start as opposed to when the die-hards start drinking. So the sh*t is now real and we are almost home. So let’s go with the band that we predict here and now will get the biggest crowd of the weekend. The band that has been requested more than any other act. Ice Motherclucking T and the juggernaut that is BODYCOUNT is your number ten.

 10. Body Count – Ronnie James Dio Stage – Sunday just before seven.

Bloodstock doesn’t just use “For the fans, by the fans” as a tagline, it lives it in everything that it does. Body Count has been requested since the Ice-T fronted metal behemoth sprung back into life in 2009. Given that Body Count have only made four visits to the UK since their resurrection, it has always felt like a pipedream. But Vicki has done her magic and finally Ice-T and Ernie C and the rest of the gang are finally here. The rampant demand shows that Body Count have never been seen as a novelty or a side project. They are a bonafide metal band with bonafide metal credential. Ernie is one of the finest guitarists out there and Ice-T is a genuine metalhead with an authentic love of this music which runs deep.

Be prepared because as a live proposition Body count are raw and unrepentant. They are probably the most politically dissident band you will hear all weekend because Body Count keep it real. They may well have been doing this one and off for over thirty-five years but they are unafraid to call out social injustice. But there is also Ice-T trademark dark humour and irreverent disregard for social convention that will keep the set away from the preachy and opinionated. Basically this is the set of the weekend waiting to happen. Body Count are finally in the Mutha clucking house.
