Live Review : Springfest @ The Waterloo Music Bar, Blackpool on April 26th 2025

Springfest returns to the Waterloo once more for its third iteration, again bringing together half a dozen bands covering a range of styles and genres; so there’s majestic 70s riffage here, spangly 80s keys there, glorious Southern stylings, some innovative contemporary rock (plus some bands that defy easy categorisation) creating a fantastic showcase of what 21st Century grassroots rock music has to offer.

Live Review : SOS Festival in Manchester on July 7th 2024

The bar for the day is immediately set very high with Wailing Banshee opening Sunday’s shenanigans.  Blessed (at least for the time being) by the weather gods, this fine young metal troupe pull an appreciative early crowd lured by the sound of their traditional metal approach, the band capitalising on the time they have to maximum effect.

Luna Marble kick off the first full day of this year’s SOS Festival and despite the heavens opening the moment they hit the first note, they don’t let little things like inclement weather dampen their enthusiasm or performance.  Delivering a thoroughly engaging groove laden, psychedelic performance both in musical and aesthetic terms, theirs is music suited to the blissed-out Summer’s Day that we should be experiencing were it not for the vagaries of the English climate.

Live Review : SpringFest UK on April 22nd 2023

It’s a good sign that with over ninety minutes to go before the first band are due are on stage at the inaugural SpringFest, that there is already a sizeable crowd gathered in and around the Waterloo.  Whether it’s the sun which has unexpectedly decided to grace us with its presence (and justify the seasonal name of the event) or just the prospect of the ten hours of rock n roll ahead, there is already a positivity, camaraderie and family vibe that will come to characterise this new festival by the time the day is done.
