 15. Blood Countess – Sophie Stage – Friday at some ungodly time BEFORE midday.

For the first time that we can recall there is NO black metal on the main stage. No corpse-painted gurning in get ups that really don’t work in the heat. But don’t despair, lovers of unholy incarnations, because there is some top-notch melancholic noise to be found elsewhere. Hailing from the satanic desolation of Darlington, Blood Countess are busy making second wave Black Metal great again. This is Black Metal as your Norwegian granny made it; cold, extreme and meticulously nasty. Downturned and proudly under-produced this is your opportunity to revel in the delectable darkness. Savage and claustrophobic, Blood Countess hold no truck with any attempts to sedate or sanitise Black metal. So if you want to experience firsthand the spirit of that second wave of black metal, this is as near as you are going to get, bar inventing a time machine and going back to Helvete in the early nineties.
