However if you are like us from ROCKFLESH and you are saving yourself for the Thursday then have the penultimate selection of our ones to watch…
2. Black Label Society – Ronnie James Dio Stage – Sunday around quarter past five.
One of the most satisfying sights of the year was seeing Zakk Wylde boss his way around the stage during the Brits’ Ozzy tribute. It was a veritable joy seeing his no compromise approach scare the living out of the pop princesses surrounding the stage. Zakk is metal incarnate and Black Label Society has been his pet project for nearly thirty years. They are a heavy metal monster, dispensing killer riffs and desert-dry grooves. Zakk may well have numerous other balls to juggle, but you get the feeling watching him in Black Label Society that this is his home fixture, the place that he calls home. So get ready for an hour of pure, unadulterated metal as you stand in the presence of a man who has it running through his veins. God Bless Black Label Society!
I just love Metal. I love it all. The bombastity of symphonic, the brutality of death, the rousing choruses of power, the nihilistic evil of black, the pounding atmospherics of doom, the whirling time changes of prog, the faithful familiarity of trad, the other worldlyness of post, the sheer unrefined power of thrash. I love it all!
