Bloodstock Festival Countdown : 30 Bands Not To Miss
14. The Black Dahlia murder - Ronnie James Dio Stage - Sunday Mid afternoon
The death of Trevor Stnard was an utter tragedy. He was one of modern metal’s most erudite and colourful frontmen. There was no front or act here, what you got is what you saw, Trevor was a larger than life but also genuinely grounded. He didn’t pretend to be anything else, and he lived to be on stage. This is The Black Dahlia Murder second trip to this country since they returned to the fray with Brian Eschbach on vocals and Ron Knight back in their ranks. It is also their first show here since Brandon Ellies quit the band. Last year’s “Servitude” showed that they haven’t changed musically, and when The Black Dahlia Murder was on full tilt they were one of the finest exponents of melodic death metal there is. Solid, heavy but with enough sheen and polish to make the tunes sing in your heart. It is great to have them back.
