Bloodstock Festival Countdown : 30 Bands Not To Miss
1. Ogun - Timothy Taylor’ Brewery - New Blood Stage - Friday Mid Afternoon
And we reach numero uno. Our final must-watch. This one is special. This one is different. This one is personal. For the first time ever we have got real skin in the game. Yes, we have had bands that ROCKFLESH have championed play Bloodstock before, but this is the first time we have had a band we are intrinsically connected with play the festival and we cannot contain our excitement.
You see,Ogun are our boys. We have written about them, we have eulogised about them, and we have taken every opportunity we could find to promote them. That piece of music you hear at the start of our video interviews, that’s Ogun, written specially for us. Hell, they even played at our beloved and satanic leader’s 50th birthday party in his back garden. Ogun and ROCKFLESH are betrothed in fire, and we cannot wait for them to melt the faces of you unsuspecting lot.
Liverpool is not a metal city. It doesn't have the pulsating metal sense that other metropolis are blessed with. This is why, when something good does arise, you grab hold of it and never let go. Ogun have emerged before, but real life got in the way and their initial rumblings were suddenly silenced. But you can't keep a good band down. They have reappeared, and this time around, they are absolutely laser-focused on achieving their promise. This is Scouse thrash. Heavy, driving and beautifully contoured. Liverpudlians have a reputation for being able to pen a good tune, and that is what is so exciting about Ogun. They are taking the intensity and the tunnel-visioned drive of thrash and coupling that with immaculate songwriting.
We feel honoured to know them, and we cannot wait for all of you to get in on the secret. So even if you visit the New Blood stage just once this weekend, make sure it is for Ogun. Watch out for the rockflesh.com team as we will be there upfront cheering our boys home. We. Can’t. Wait.
