68. Caligula's Horse - 'Rise Radiant'

Yet more prog metal. This time from down under. Like most modern Prog, ‘Rise Radiant’ mixes complexity with slick accessibility. The choruses are big, and the melodies are bold. It concentrates more on creating well-crafted song, than trying to see how many time signature changes it can fit in, and is a better album for that. Highly polished and immaculately produced, it may lack the edge and tension that the Haken album has, but the song writing is divine.
