52. Secrets Of The Moon - 'Black House'

German Black metallers that have gone all goth with their seventh record. They started the metamorphization a couple of albums back, however “Black House” marks the culmination of their transformation as there is absolutely no Black Metal in this record. Instead, it is an atmospheric and sweeping gothic rock record from start to finish. It’s also really rather good, probably better than anything they did back when they wore corpse paint and screamed about Satan. This is on the moody introspective side of goth, dark, sullen and haunted. However, it doesn’t skimp on the expansive choruses that goth does so well, they are here in spades. Overall, it’s more Fields of the Nephilim than All about Eve, however if you do hanker after proper eighties goth then this may well float your boat.
